Abstract

Microdata collected by the European System of Central Bank (ESCB) can be made available to researchers under certain conditions. While national central banks in the EU already share national subsets of data collected under ECB regulations, this option does not exist for datasets covering the entire euro area. The ESCB now stated a pilot project to make such data available, building on existing infrastructure and using different access modes. This presentation will outline the main features of the pilot and discuss the arrangements in place to promote research while protecting data confidentiality.
