Abstract

This presentation illustrates the ongoing experimental work by the Bank of Italy to develop distributional accounts that align household-level microdata with national accounts aggregates. Particular attention is devoted to the more extensive use of administrative records, which enhance coverage and accuracy, and to the extension of the framework to the joint distribution of income, consumption, and wealth. These efforts aim to strengthen the analysis of inequality, and provide more robust tools for policy analysis.
