Abstract

Data accessibility has become one of the challenges that has been emerged in recent years. The growing demand for more accessible and well-organized statistics in the Philippines presents an opportunity to strengthen data use for planning and policy work, as users seek more seamless ways to navigate and integrate information across existing platforms, as digitalization expands in the country.

One of the easiest ways to make data accessible for users is to create a dashboard for a more integrated and user-friendly system that easily displays all information in one place in an easy-to-digest form.

With this overarching goal, the Macroeconomic Accounts Service (MAS) of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) developed and launched a platform called Macroeconomics Statistics & Indicators (MASI) Dashboard. This platform is an integrated, web-based dashboard, which consolidates key indicators from PSA statistical outputs, including major macroeconomic statistics such as Gross Domestic Product (GDP), Gross National Income (GNI), and other related indicators like inflation, market labor, poverty, and investment. The MASI also highlights a user-centric interactive interface, organized around thematic areas through analyses of economic performance, quarterly trends, annual summaries, and subnational statistics.

The MASI Dashboard was developed using the Streamlit web application framework, a Python-based tool designed for the efficient development of interactive data-driven web applications. By leveraging this framework, the PSA will be able to implement a platform that is visually coherent and maintainable, while ensuring timely dissemination and broad accessibility of up-to-date macroeconomic statistics to a wide range of users.

By integrating standardized data, interactive visualizations, and automated updates, MASI promotes transparency and easier access to macroeconomic statistics for better use of data for policy and sustained economic progress.
