Abstract

Likelihood ratio tests to test between any two of these three structures are presented, along with the derivation of the distributions of the corresponding statistics. Since these distributions are not manageable, sharp asymptotic distributions, called near-exact distributions, which are asymptotic for all the parameters involved, are derived. It is shown that these distributions have very good performances even for very small samples and examples of application of the tests are presented.
