Abstract
This presentation explores the importance of data literacy in today’s data-driven world, with a focus on the role of the National Statistics Office (NSO). It explains how people need basic skills to understand, interpret, and question data in order to make informed decisions in everyday life. The presentation highlights how the NSO is not only a provider of reliable and official statistics, but is also actively working to improve data literacy through various initiatives. These efforts are particularly aimed at young people and the general public, recognising that everyone—not just experts—needs to be data literate. By promoting better understanding of data, the NSO aims to build trust in official statistics and support more informed and engaged communities.
