“Innovation in Capacity Development – Working Across Continents and Sectors”
Abstract
I am Manohar Ghimire, currently working at the National Statistics Office of Nepal in a Director position. I have been working in the area of official statistics for more than two decades. I am the deputy project leader of the Analysis for Action Project in NSO; the project's objective is to develop a user-friendly toolkit for data collection and management during the pandemic situations in the low middle income countries. The project helps enhance the NSO's role in managing health statistics. It helps to learn the practices of producing official statistics in different pilot project countries and in the UK.
On the project, we have been developing different unit content on the design, collection, processing, and dissemination of statistical products; this iterative process has enhanced the capacity of NSO.
As part of the project, we conducted the Public Acceptability Survey. This is a household survey, and its objective is to get the respondents' perceptions of the data collection, use, trust in confidentiality, etc. I coordinated the survey from the NSO side and this type of survey is new one in comparison with other surveys.
