This session introduces the ASEAN Food Security Information System (AFSIS), a regional cooperation framework for agricultural statistics, with a particular focus on the integration of satellite remote sensing technology into rice crop monitoring across ASEAN member states. Through five presentations, the session will demonstrate how space-based technologies can be operationalized to strengthen agricultural statistics and food security policy in Southeast Asia, and how Japan’s sustained technical and financial support has been instrumental in this effort.
