  • Proposal Description

Much of the knowledge used in public management, planning, the evaluation of public policies, scientific research, and active citizenship relies on sample surveys. The demand for high-quality statistics requires a continuous focus on the statistical methods used in data production and analysis. The ever-changing survey landscape poses several challenges for survey methodologists, including inadequate sampling frames, declining response rates, the need to adapt to new technologies and mobile devices, the use of non-probability surveys, and concerns about data quality, privacy, and the integration of new data sources.

This session emphasises the importance of continuously improving survey methods, discusses emerging topics, and explores innovative approaches to enhance the quality and availability of data.
The ISI Regional Conference covers a wide range of topics. It aims to attract participants from diverse backgrounds, making it a valuable opportunity to showcase advancements in survey methods and related fields. This proposed session will address various subjects in the scope of survey methods, including ongoing research initiatives. The presentations will focus on topics such as the data collection process, challenges associated with multiple frame surveys, the use of alternative data sources, and the integration of survey methods into biomedical research.

The invited speakers and the session discussant are well-known experts who lead important research projects in this field. In addition, they are all engaged in interdisciplinary work and serve as excellent ambassadors of the survey methods for the public good.
