    Proposal Description

Changepoints and anomaly detection are hot topics in statistics, as evidenced by the increase in talks at ISI in 2025 and other recent conferences. This session brings together those who are well known and respected in the field (Killick, Vuk, McGonigle) with a couple of speakers who are relatively new to the field (Ramezan, Akuffo). This 3:2 balance feels right to entice people to the session, whilst giving opportunity to enhance the reputation of those who are newer to the field.

The wide range of application areas demonstrated in the session will draw in those who have specific interest in those areas in addition to changepoint researchers. More specifically, Killick will discuss environmental applications, Vuk will demonstrate stock market data, Akuffo will cover business and economic applications, McGonigle has examples in network data, and Ramezan is motivated by neuroscience applications.

There is deliberately a mix of gender (M/F/NB), academic seniority (Prof, Assoc. Prof, Ass. Prof, Postdoc, PhD student), geographic location (Europe, Canada, US, Africa), and application motivation to celebrate the diversity of research and researchers in changepoint analysis.
